I’m a South African expat currently exploring life in Toronto, Canada, with my wonderful husband. Cooking is a passion, a hobby and a daily discovery: sometimes a tried and trusted recipe from a book covered in stains and crumbs and sometimes a happy accident in experimentation. I know no better way to express my love and friendship for someone than to cook for them and since I can no longer cook up plates of comfort for all my friends and family back home, I thought I’d start sharing with whoever else was available.
man. i’m wishing toronto was killarney right about now. your doorbell would be ringing my friend. open up, i’m over for dinner! xx
Wow Robyn what a lovely collection of recipes, life and the licking of bowls Yum. found your cauliflower pesto whilst looking for bringal pesto … that sound great too and so do many of your posts.. i have noticed you have not updated anything recently are still updating or using a different platform
Sign us up for some clafouti too. If Robyn won’t come to the mountain, the mountains are coming to Robyn – just for the food, you do understand. I must say the picture with the jelly looks very much like dried worms of some sort. Lovely stuff once again, you clever child.
you wield a pen masterfully and by the looks of it you wield the wooden spoon just as well! hope to pop by for some bowl-licking one sensual summer day!
How nice to stumble on your lovely food blog! It was a total accident as I was searching the words “mango seed” for a project I’m working on. I couldn’t resist the name of your site and then your pork and mango tortillas popped up and, of course, I had to look. I must stay on track for now, lest I make no money this month, but I will certainly be back to see what you’ve been up to in the kitchen. Thanks for posting!

Hi Robyn,
I am designing and compiling a Blueberry Recipe Book to help promote the use of Blueberries in New Zealand and possibly Australia and overseas. I would love to use your BLUEBERRY AND LAVENDER JELLIES picture and recipe in the book. Would that be possible? I will include you in the acknowledgements. The book is to be published before Christmas ready for the blueberry season here. It is almost 170 pages and a great book to inspire the use of blueberries.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Regards, Glenis
What a delightful blog! My mouth was watering, the pictures are awesome and you write well. Thanks for the great recipes, and hope all is well in your side of the world.
Leave your husband and run away with me.
Thanks for the crunchie recipe – they’re in the oven right now but the bowl licking tasted just like I remember! I subbed the whole wheat flour with Trader Joes’ (do you have them in Toronto?) almond meal so it’s really almost healthy….
Have just discovered your website/blog. And how refreshing it is! Congratulations, have added it to my favourites and will be back soon. Well Done. x
Congratulations! Keep it up!
I adore your posts… Some make me homesick but I am always thrilled!
met your parents in a dog park in queensland australia… do you have aa recipe for sweet chilli jam/sauce?
Hello Robyn, love your blog. I’m trying to make your chestunt flour pie, just need to know what a stick of butter is? Sorry, can’t find it anywhere
Hello Paul,
A stick of butter is a North American term. It’s 125g. A 500g block of butter can be bought in 4 individually wrapped “sticks”, hence the term.
Good luck! I love chestnut pastry.
